Ray Hassard

Ray Hassard was born in Freeport NY in 1949. He grew up in the New York City area and studied Advertising Design and Visual Communication at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. He moved to Buffalo NY in 1977 and quickly discovered the turn-of-the-century architecture the city abounds in. Urban landscapes became his primary artistic theme, and Ray won several commissions, most notably one to create and install a large wall piece for the subway line the city was building.
In 1987, after moving to Cincinnati, he became co-owner, publisher, and art director of American Record Guide, a bi-monthly magazine reviewing classical music.
Ray’s other interests include travel; most recently to India for the fifth time, and back to Bhutan—two favorite places, where he painted en plein air. Ray was recently given signature and Master Pastellist status by the MidAmerica Pastel Society. He is represented by Sharon Weiss Gallery, Columbus OH and Oxford Gallery, Rochester NY.
